While selecting a plot the following points should be observed:

1. Soil check

2. Directions facing:

• North, East or Northeast -- over all good for home, factory and offices

• Northwest -- good for trading, business and industry

• Southeast--good for chemical, petrochemical, or electric related business or industry

• South, West or Southwest--good only for night time activities.

3. Shape of the plot: There are many shapes and designs of the plots. But only four shapes of plots are recommended. Either SQUARE, RECTANGULAR (the ideal ratio is 1:2),SHERDAH OR GAUMUKHI.

• SHERDAH - It means a plot which is wider in front then the back(like a face of a lion). It is good for business and industry.

• GAUMUKHI:- It means a plot which is wider in back then the front (like a face of a cow). It is good for residential purpose.

4. Slope: The slope of the plot or land should be towards north and east.

Non-Aligned Plots

What has been said in Vastu Shastra so far as based on the plots that are parallel to directions or made on those roads which are correctly situated towards north-south or east-west. Now we discuss about the plots which are not facing the perfect East, West, North, South, North-East, North-West, South-East or South-West.

There are different effects of such non-aligned plots.

East Direction-Alignment of plot towards north-east.

Such plots bring name and fame but little financial gains.

The owner of such plots has many children.

He is miser in nature.

South Direction-Alignment of plot towards south-east.

Such plot is a source of many sons. It also brings respectability.

There are monetary gains as well but the male members of

the family suffer from ailments and/or ill health.

The women living on such plots will remain aggrieved.

The nature of male members will be intolerable.

There will be sadness all around.

West Direction-Alignment of plot towards south-west.

The men living on such plots earn their livelihood by violent

means and the female members lead their lives in utter disappointment.

Such plots are considered to be good. The sources of income

pour in effortlessly. The female members of the family are also happy.
